Jayaraman Chillayil is a Fulbright Kalam Climate Change Doctoral Fellow who conducts research on “factors influencing adoption of Energy Efficient Technologies (EET), looking through the behaviour lens.” His focus areas include industries in the small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) sector and how increased adoption of EETs can impact the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions of India. 

Prior to this, Jayaraman worked as a Senior Manager in BPCL Kochi Refinery, a petroleum refining company in India. He has 25 years of industrial and two years of teaching experience. He is one of the co-founders of the Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM), a not-for-profit organisation of 800 certified energy managers and energy auditors in India. He is currently the Chief Editor of the SEEM quarterly magazine, “Energy Manager."

In 2010, Jayaraman visited LBNL under the Fulbright Nehru Environmental Leadership programme for 4 months. He holds a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from NIT, Calicut and is presently enrolled as a PhD student at Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, India
